What's your definition of an abundant life?To me an abundant life sounds like a great life, full of fun, holidays, work, education, marriages, children, cars, private jets, love, peace and joy…… the list is endless! John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.
2 Corinthians 5:17 talks about this life when it says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. Old things have passed away and new things have come.” Jesus calls that life "abundant" in John 10:10. IT’S LIFE WITH A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE!
Throughout Scripture we see God blessing people, or promising blessing to His people. The books of Joshua and Psalms speak to the fact that we can be prosperous. Several of the Proverbs reveal ways we can become prosperous. Is God trying to tell us that abundant life is the result of having been made new? Is prosperity the sign of abundant life? Because many in the Bible and throughout history have had lives of struggle, suffering and pain, yet seemed to experience abundant life.
An abundant life is a life that one can experience if they truly walk with Jesus. Your abundant life is different to mine: Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT) “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” God knew us before we were born and has planned our life's 'route,' so to speak, and that God designed route for us leads us to our abundant life.
An abundant life for us is what we receive as a gift from the Lord and we should live knowing that we are stewards of the blessings of God. An abundant life begins with salvation from an eternity of suffering the penalty of sin (Romans 6:23). For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. An abundant life means gaining a heavenly perspective (Romans 12:2) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
An abundant life leads to a growing trust and knowledge of God (2 Peter 3:18). Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.
An abundant life means blossoming into a life full of the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
We want to be thankful for what God has given us. When we live this way, we will become conduits of the blessing of God. Some Christians seem to think God has made them containers, complete with a lid. A container stores resources; but a conduit delivers them. We should continually be pouring out into others through our abundant life what God is pouring out into us.
When we take the blessings of God (mercy, peace, love, grace, wisdom, etc.) and share with others; this is fulfilling our godly designed life which is our abundant life that God pre-planned for us. Lets endeavour to live our God given abundant life.
